This first edition of the Congress brought together scholars, educators, and practitioners from around the world to engage in interdisciplinary dialogue on migration, diaspora, cultural exchange, and regional collaborations.
The Congress emerged at a pivotal moment, addressing shared opportunities and challenges across our regions—from climate change and sustainable development to inequality and technological transformation. Organized around four thematic tracks, the event encouraged reflection on the lived experiences of migration, as well as comparative and trans-regional studies.

As part of this inspiring program, I contributed to the panel:
067 // 4 – Reconstruyendo el archivo asiático-peruano: opacidades y experiencias de las comunidades Nikkei y Tusán en el Perú
Friday, 11:30am – 1:00pm, Room 2:11
Chair: María Alexandra Arana Blas, University of Pittsburgh
Session Organizer: María Alexandra Arana Blas, University of Pittsburgh
The panel explored the complex histories, memories, and identities of Peru’s Asian communities.
In my presentation, I shared insights from ‘Un Puente hacia el Presente / A Bridge to Now’, a performance that embodies the migration narratives of the Chinese-Peruvian community, connecting past and present through movement, embodied memory, and interdisciplinary storytelling. It was a profound opportunity to engage with scholars and artists working at the intersections of memory, identity, and diaspora.
Participating in LASA/Oceania-Asia 2025 was not only a chance to share research but also to contribute to a larger dialogue about the historical and contemporary connections linking Latin America, Asia, and Oceania—a dialogue that is increasingly vital in our interconnected world.
